Amazing Race Suomi (The Amazing Race Finland) is a reality television competition between celebrity teams of two in a race around the world. Just like in the american version, the race is divided into a number of legs wherein teams travel and complete various tasks to obtain clues to help them progress to a Pit Stop where they are given a chance to rest and recover before starting the next leg. The first team to arrive at a Pit Stop is sometimes awarded a prize while the last team is normally eliminated from the race (except in non-elimination legs). The final leg of the race is run by the last three remaining teams, and the first to arrive at the final destination wins €30,000.
Format[]
At the beginning of each leg, teams receive an allowance of cash to cover expenses during the race.
Each leg consists of different challenges that require physical and mental resources, which are performed either alone or with a partner. Competitors have to navigate themselves from one place to another using only the directions on the envelopes. The envelopes may also contain smaller tasks that often require reasoning, teamwork and know-how, after completing which the contestants get a new clue to the next task.
After completing several tasks, competitors can head straight to the pit stop, which is the end point of each leg. The last couple to arrive at the pit stop is in danger of being eliminated from the competition, with the exception of a few pre-selected legs where eliminations doesn't happen. At the end of the season, the team that registers first at the finish line back in Finland wins the main prize, which in the Finnish version is 30,000 euros.
