Beacon of Hope is the season finale of The Amazing Race 22.
The order of departure from Niddry Street South are as follows:
Teams must take a train to Stranraer, then take a ferry to Belfast, Northern Ireland. Upon arrival at Belfast Harbour, teams must make their way to All-Route Shipping Warehouse to find marked Ford Fiestas, which they must use to drive themselves to Peatlands Park, where they would find their next clue.
"Who wants to get bogged down?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must participate in bog snorkelling. After donning full snorkelling gear, including a complete wet suit and flippers, they must cannonball into a muddy pool, then swim one 100-yard lap in the bog within 4 minutes. If they can complete the course within the required time, the bog snorkelling official would give them their next clue.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
Teams must drive themselves to Belfast and find "The Thing With a Ring", leaving teams to figure out that this referred to the Beacon of Hope sculpture in Thanksgiving Square, where they would find their next clue.
Choice A: Tray It
Teams must make their way to the dry dock at Titanic Quarter where the RMS Titanic was built. They must prepare and serve the ship's last five-course dinner to a group of first-class passengers. Using the provided menu as well as a seating chart, they must choose the proper dishes for each course from a table full of unmarked plates and serve them to the passengers in the dining room at the dry dock. When the waiter is satisfied that each passenger has received the correct order for each course of the dinner, they would be allowed to move on to the next course. Once all five courses are served correctly, a Captain Edward Smith impersonator would give them their next clue.
Only Caroline & Jennifer chose this task.
Choice B: Spray It
Teams must make their way to T13 Skatepark, where they must finish half of a graffiti painting using a provided photograph as reference. When the crew is satisfied with their work, they would receive their next clue.
The order of departure from Ulster Hall are as follows:
Teams must take a ferry to Liverpool, England, then make their way to London. Once there, teams must make their way to the Euston Tap and order a pint of beer for each team member to receive their next clue.
Teams must fly to Washington, D.C., United States. Upon arrival, teams must make their way to where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, which they must figure out referred to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Once they have found the spot where the speech was delivered, they would receive their next clue.
Teams must make their way to 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue. Once there, they would be escorted by a "Secret Service agent" to a souvenir photography studio where they posed for a photograph in which their face was superimposed over a photograph of someone else meeting President Barack Obama. Their picture would then be printed, with their next clue on the back.
Teams must make their way to the Tidal Basin, where they must search for a marked car near the paddle boat docks. After knocking on the rear passenger side window three times, the car's occupant would give them a briefcase containing their next clue.
"Who's ready for some covert ops?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must take the briefcase they received from the marked car, and then find one of fifty "spies" around the Tidal Basin who would respond to their given code phrase with another supplied code phrase.
- Bates & Anthony: "I did not dress warm enough for this weather." / "Perhaps you would like to borrow my gloves."
- Max & Katie: "Where can I get a good half-smoke with chili?" / "I've heard there's a great place on U Street."
- Mona & Beth: "The cherry blossoms are beautiful here in April." / "I'll have to bring my mother next spring."
Once they have found the correct spy, they must swap briefcases with the him, and the spy would tell them that the combination code to open their new briefcase was their final placements in New Zealand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. They must then unlock the briefcase to retrieve their next clue.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
One team member must ride a zip line across the stadium and toss a baseball, while their partner, dressed in a baseball mascot costume, must try to catch it. Once they successfully catch the ball, they must toss the ball to a pitcher. The pitcher would then pitch the ball to a batter, who would hit it into the outfield. The team member on the ground must then retrieve the ball, which would have the name of their next destination written on it.
Teams must make their way to Hains Point, where they would find their next clue.
One team member must enter a giant ball pit to find globes marked with the various countries, and must search for ones marked with the ten countries they visited on the Race. Their partner must then take the globes passed to them and place them on podiums in the order in which they visited them. Once they have placed the correct globes in chronological order, another globe would open revealing their last clue.
