Beards in the Wind is the fourth episode of The Amazing Race 23.

Story[]

Route Markers[]

The order of departure from Castelo dos Mouros are as follows:

Only Nicole & Travis' and Jason & Amy's departure times were shown on-screen. The other six teams' departure times are unknown.

Teams must fly to Bodø, Norway. Upon arrival, teams must take a ferry to Svolvær, where they would find their next clue at the ferry terminal.

Choice A: Hang Your Heads
Teams must string fish heads in six bundles of ten fish heads each, then take them by wheelbarrow to a fish drying rack and place them on a marked rod. Once finished, the fish foreman would give them their next clue.

Ally & Ashley, Brandon & Adam, Jason & Amy, Leo & Jamal, Nicole & Travis, and Tim & Marie chose this task.

Choice B: Hammer of the Cods
Teams must collect 15 pairs of cod from a 30-foot high fish drying rack, then transport them to a manufacturing area to smash the cod into fish jerky, making sure to remove the bones. Once they have 1 kilogram of fish jerky, they would receive their next clue.

Nicky & Kim and Tim & Danny chose this task.

Teams must make their way on foot to Lofoten Explorer, where they would take an RIB to Henningsvær, where they would find their next clue.

"Who's the biggest Swinger?"

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must put on a wetsuit and bungee jump off the Henningsvær Bridge. They must then drop themselves into the waters of the Arctic Ocean and swim to a buoy to retrieve their next clue, then swim back to their partner who is waiting in the RIB. The RIB would then take them back to the shore.

The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:

Teams must use chains to hitch to a granite boulder on a sled to a provided Ford Ranger, then move the sled far enough to reveal their next clue and a satchel of Viking coins, which they would need later in the Race.

Teams must drive themselves to the Viking Longhouse to check in.

For coming in first, Brandon & Adam each won $5,000.

This leg is a No-Rest Leg. Teams would check in as normal, but receive their clue to start the next leg from host Phil Keoghan. The team that comes in last place does not face a penalty.
