Can Horses Smell Fear? is the second episode of The Amazing Race 10.
One team goes into an emotional tailspin when they're thrown from their horse during a detour, while alliances start forming between several of the teams.
The pressure starts to take its toll on several of the racers as precious time is lost when teams are forced to switch tasks mid-stream, while others struggle to finish a flaming roadblock. Meanwhile, alliances start to form between several of the teams who realize they might be considered the underdogs of the Race.
The order of departure from Juyongguan are as follows:
Teams must sign up for one of two charter buses to Erlian Train Station in Erenhot. The first bus to Erenhot is scheduled to depart at 12 am and can only carry only five teams. The second bus is scheduled to depart at 2 am and can carry the other five teams. Once in Erenhot, teams must take a train to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Upon arrival, teams must make their way to the Choijin Lama Temple and observe a ceremony to receive their next clue.
Teams must choose a marked Soviet-era military jeep and drive themselves to a riverbed in Terelj. At the riverbed, they must don traditional Mongolian army hats and ride 2.5 miles on horseback until they reach Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, where they would find their next clue.
Choice A: Take It Down
Teams must choose one of ten traditional nomadic shelters known as a ger, take the canvas and roof down, package it for transport, and load it onto a camel. Once completed, a nomad would give them their next clue.
Choice B: Fill It Up
Teams must take a cart pulled by an indigenous ox-like animal called a hynik and four water containers to a river 500 yards away. They then had to fill the containers, bring them back, and fill a barrel to a designated line. Once completed, a nomad would give them their next clue.
Teams must ride on horseback back to the riverbed in Terelj, then drive themselves to the town of Gachuurt and find the Hotel Mongolia, where they would find their next clue.
"Who's ready to aim high?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must string a traditional Mongolian bow and shoot a flaming arrow to hit a target 160 feet away. After hitting the target, the team could check in at the Pit Stop at a pavilion on a hill.
