Counting Bears Is Not Rocket Science is the third episode of The Amazing Race 6.
Nine teams set out from Voss, Norway and race all the way to Stockholm.
At the world's largest IKEA store, teams face a simple detour, which proves to be a grueling challenge for some teams as they struggle to take inventory of more than 2,000 pots, pans and stuffed animals. Meanwhile, one racer is touched by their teammate's persistence in what seems to be an impossible task.
The order of departure from Nesheimstunet Farm are as follows:
- Kris & Jon (2:47 am)
- Jonathan & Victoria (2:53 am)
- Gus & Hera (2:54 am)
- Hayden & Aaron (3:06 am)
- Lori & Bolo (3:07 am)
- Adam & Rebecca (3:20 am)
- Freddy & Kendra (3:46 am)
- Don & Mary Jean (3:54 am)
- Lena & Kristy (4:05 am)
Don & Mary Jean had arrived in 7th place in Leg 2, but they mistakenly drove the car that belonged to Adam & Rebecca. They were given a 30-minute penalty for the beginning of this leg, causing them to depart in 8th place.
Teams must drive back to Voss. Once in Voss, teams must travel by train to Oslo and bus to the city of Stockholm, Sweden. Once in Stockholm, teams must find the Ice Bar at the Nordic Sea Hotel to find their next clue.
Teams must slide a shot glass across the bar. If either team member landed a glass on a target at the end, they would receive their next clue. If neither team member's glass hit the target, they had to go to the back of the line before trying again.
Choice A: Count It
Teams must count the number of pots, pans, and stuffed animals in three large bins. If they give the correct number (2,304) to the supervisor, they would receive their next clue; otherwise, they would have to count again.
Choice B: Build It
Teams must assemble a desk using all of the provided parts. If they make a mistake, they would have to fix it or start the construction over. Once the desk is assembled, the supervisor would give them their next clue.
Teams must take a train to the town of Häggvik and ride a tandem bike 2 miles to find their next clue at Bögs Gård Farm.
At Bögs Gård Farm, teams would have the option to Yield a team. None of the teams opted to use the Yield.
"Who's got hay fever?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must unroll bales of hay to find their next clue hidden inside one of only 20 out of 270 bales.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
- Adam & Rebecca
- Don & Mary Jean
- Freddy & Kendra
- Gus & Hera
- Hayden & Aaron
- Jonathan & Victoria
- Kris & Jon
- Lena & Kristy
- Lori & Bolo
Over two hours after Don & Mary Jean checked in, Lena was still searching hay bales for her clue. Host Phil Keoghan came to the site of the Roadblock and eliminated her and Kristy.
