Courteous? This Is a Race! is the season premiere of The Amazing Race 7.

Synopsis[]

The race starts in picturesque Long Beach, California and quickly takes the teams to Lima, Peru where, upon landing, they have to take a bus to their next clue. One team is fluent in Spanish and immediately leads several teams to the right bus. Choosing between a detour of leading llamas or carrying heavy baskets into town, one team chooses to lead two especially disagreeable llamas and spends much of the task dodging showers of spit. Another team decides to carry the heavy baskets, but one of them nearly passes-out from exhaustion caused by the high altitude.[2]

Story[]

Route Markers[]

Teams must fly to Lima, Peru. Teams may only take one of two flights. The first flight is American Airlines and can only accommodate six teams. The second flight is United Airlines and can accommodate five teams. Upon arriving teams must take a bus to Plaza de Armas to find their next clue.

Teams must take a bus to Ancón District and ride a rickshaw to Playa Hermosa. On the beach, teams must search through sand piles for one of three tickets to their next destination, Cusco, which left the next morning at either 6:00, 7:00, and 7:40. Once a team has claimed a set of tickets, they cannot search for another time. Teams will find their next clue upon arrival at the Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco.

Teams must take a marked taxi to the town of Huambutio and receive their next clue from the owner of Kiosko Virgen del Carmen.

Team must take their taxis across a bridge to the top of a gorge where they would ride two ziplines across and back to receive their next clue.

Choice A: Rope a Llama
Teams must rope and then lead a pair of llamas a nearby pen. Once they had two llamas in their pen, the herder would give them their next clue.

Meredith & Gretchen, Ryan & Chuck, Susan & Patrick, and Uchenna & Joyce chose this task.

Choice B: Rope a Basket
Teams must put on hats and capes, then tie and carry a basket of alfalfa weighing 35 pounds two-thirds of a mile to a store called Tienda Victoria Valdivia. Once there, teams would receive their next clue.

Brian & Greg, Debbie & Bianca, Lynn & Alex, Megan & Heidi, Ray & Deana, Rob & Amber, and Ron & Kelly chose this task.

Team must make their way to Huambutio Police Station and board a marked delivery truck to Písac. The trucks would leave every 20 minutes and could only take up to three teams. Once in Písac, teams must search the market for their next clue.

Teams must make their way back to Cusco and find the Convento de La Merced to check in. For coming in first, Debbie & Bianca won $10,000 each.
