Introduced in the third leg of HaMerotz LaMillion 3, the last team to arrive at the Pit Stop during a Non-Elimination Leg was given a Departure Time Penalty at the following leg's Pit Start. Teams affected were forced to begin the next leg of the Race later than normal.

In The Amazing Race 33, as a result of the safety protocols enacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Departure Time Penalty, in conjunction with the Departure Groups format, replaced the Speed Bump as the US version's penalty for coming in last during a Non-Elimination Leg. The penalized team would start the next leg in the last departure group on their own.

Beginning with The Amazing Race 34, traditional Non-Elimination Legs were removed. However, that season had a de facto Non-Elimination Leg featuring this penalty for the team that finished last on that leg, due to a team being evacuated prior to that leg's start. When traditional Non-Elimination Legs returned in The Amazing Race 37 (which by that point had lifted the COVID-19 safety protocols), the last place team received No Penalty.
