Story[]
Route Markers[]
The order of departure from Banyan Lake are as follows:
- Kisha & Jen (1:48 pm)
- Tammy & Victor (1:49 pm)
- Margie & Luke (1:50 pm)
- Jaime & Cara (2:12 pm)
Teams must fly to Beijing. Upon arrival, teams must make their way to Liangzi Foot Massage Palace, where they would find their next clue.
"Who's feeling manipulative?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must drink a cup of Chinese medicinal tea, then endure a traditional therapeutic foot massage for 10 minutes. After finishing the massage, they must drink another cup of tea to receive their next clue. In the event that teams are unable to bear the painful part of the massage, they can tap one side of their chair and say "uncle" to signal the masseuse to stop. Doing so, however, would mean restarting the massage from the beginning.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
Teams must make their way to Guangcai Natatorium at the Beijing Muxiyuan Sports Technology School, where they would find their next clue.
Choice A: Sync
Teams must take part in the sport of synchronized diving and jump off of three-meter springboards and attempt to touch the water in unison. They must score a five from the judges in order to receive their next clue.
None of the teams chose this task.
Choice B: Swim
Teams must don a pair of Speedo LZR Racer suits, then swim eight lengths of a 400 meter relay in the pool, with each team member alternating after two lengths (100 meters). When they swam the whole eight lengths, they would receive their next clue.
Teams must make their way to Drum Tower to meet with host Phil Keoghan.
Teams would be handed their next clue by Phil, revealing that they were still racing.
Despite being a midpoint, for arriving in first place, Jaime & Cara each won a jet ski.Leaderboard[]

Trivia[]
- The Detour in this episode paid homage to the 2008 Summer Olympics, which were held in Beijing. In particular, Michael Phelps' world record time of 4:03.84 at the men's 400 metre individual medley was shown for comparison at the Swim Detour, though teams were not required to beat it.
- This leg's pit stop, the Drum Tower, also later served as the pit stop in the fourth leg of The Amazing Race Canada 5.
- The episode title is said by Cara Rosenthal.
