Here Comes The Bedouin is the eighth episode of The Amazing Race 9.
Synopsis[]
Teams face a difficult Detour in Oman, which requires the racers to get up close and personal with several ornery camels in order to receive their next clue.
Right out of the Pit Stop, one Team erupts into a war of words and insults. Then, teams encounter a true roadblock on the Race when they come across a flooded road allowing them a chance for a unique interaction with a kind local who comes to their rescue. Meanwhile, a lonely duo entertains themselves by invoking the ghosts of previously eliminated teams, doing hilarious impersonations of each to help pass the time.[2]

Teams must travel on foot over the Rio–Antirrio Bridge to find a visitor's center where teams must sign up for one of two charter buses to Athens International Airport. Once there, teams must fly to Muscat, Oman. Upon arrival, teams must drive themselves to Riyam Park and search for the giant incense burner to find their next clue.
Teams must drive themselves to the town of Sur and find a ferry crossing in Baith Al Battha to find their next clue.
Choice A: Camel
Teams must cross the river on a ferry to the opposite bank, where they must lift a camel into a pickup truck using a winch. They must then use a provided map to drive 1 mile to a Bedouin camp and deliver the camel to receive their next clue.
Eric & Jeremy, Joseph & Monica, and Ray & Yolanda chose this task.
Choice B: Watchtower
Teams must cross the river on a ferry to the opposite bank and search among three watchtowers for an Arabian message box scroll. However, only two of the three watchtowers would have a message scroll. After they have found a message scroll, they must drive 1 mile to Al-Sayegh Gold & Silversmith and exchange the message scroll for their next clue.
Teams must drive themselves to the village of Al Hawiyah and search for their next clue at the sand dunes past the date palm trees.
"Who's willing to work for food?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must dig among 117 sand dunes to find one of only six Omani underground ovens with a shuwa, a woven pouch with a meal of lamb wrapped in a dried palm leaf bag and steamed in the oven, which they would have for dinner after checking in. Once they found the shuwa, a Bedouin would give them their next clue.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
Teams must drive themselves to the town of Jabrin and find Jabreen Castle to check in.
For coming in first, Fran & Barry won an all-expense paid trip to Rome sponsored by Travelocity.
For coming in last place, BJ & Tyler would have to surrender all of their money and possessions, except for the clothes they are wearing and their passports, and they would not receive any money at the start of the next leg.Leaderboard[]
