I'm Not a Miner! No, You're an Idiot! is the eighth episode of The Amazing Race 2.

Synopsis[]

The closeness of the race increases the intensity and the teammates begin to feel the pressure as a minor mistake could mean elimination for one team.

Five teams race from Hong Kong to Sydney and into the Australian Outback in a mad intercontinental dash. Two teams fail to follow instructions at one of the challenges, resulting in a major set back for them. With an elimination looming, every decision the teams make could cost the race.[2]

Teams must take a sampan back to Lung Wui Road, then take a public bus to Repulse Bay. They must then search for the statue of Tin Hau, which teams were left to figure out was located at Kwun Yam Shrine, where they would find their next clue.

The Fast Forward instructions were given to teams at the Pit Start. Teams must make their way to the Po Lin Monastery, then climb 268 steps to the Tian Tan Buddha statue to claim the Fast Forward pass. However, none of the teams opted to use the Fast Forward.

Teams must make their way to the Murray House, where they would find their next clue.

Choice A: Dragon
Teams must row a dragon boat, usually suited for twelve people, through a short, marked 600 m (2,000 ft) course to St. Stephen's Beach, where they would find their next clue.

Chris & Alex, Gary & Dave, and Tara & Wil chose this task.

Choice B: Lion
Teams must carry a ceremonial lion normally made for two through a marked 2,400 m (7,900 ft) course through narrow markets and steep stairs to St. Stephen's Beach, where they would find their next clue. The team member holding the lion's head must hold it above their shoulders, while their partner holding the tail must hold it above their head.

Blake & Paige and Oswald & Danny chose this task.

Teams must fly to Sydney, Australia. Upon arrival, they must make their way to the footsteps of the Sydney Opera House, where they would find their next clue.

"That person should speak good Australian."

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must follow a series of riddles written in Australian slang until they received a clue instructing them to return to their partner. First, they must take a bus to Martin Place and greet a "surfie in the lairy daks" with the traditional Australian greeting g'day mate. They must then make their way to Archibald Fountain at Hyde Park and find a "true-blue ankle biter". Next, they must make their way to the Captain Cook statue at Hyde Park and find a "Sheila in the Aussie cozzie" and ask for "the good oil". Finally, they must make their way to Circular Quay and find "the bushie". Once they have solved all four riddles, they may return to their partner.

The last charter flight would carry the last team and depart at 1:30 pm. Upon arrival, teams must drive themselves to the Metal Tree sculpture, where they would find their next clue.

Choice A: Cool Down
Teams must drive themselves to Opal Quest Mine at Tom's Working Opal Mine, where they must descend into the cool tunnels and search for a marked pile of rocks and rubble. They must then use provided mining tools to search the pile for an opal. After finding one, they may exchange their opal with the foreman for their next clue.

Oswald & Danny and Tara & Wil chose this task.

Choice B: Heat Up
Teams must drive themselves to Coober Pedy Golf Club, where they must alternate playing any three holes of golf on the driest golf course in the world. However, the holes all criss-cross each other and teams must play in the intense heat of up to 130 °F (54 °C) using only a map of the golf course and one ball. Once they have completed three holes, the umpire would give teams their next clue.

Teams must drive themselves to Lookout 2 inside Breakaways National Park and follow a marked path into a valley to find their next clue.

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must throw a boomerang from within a marked circle such that the boomerang left, returned, and landed within the circle. If they fail to throw the boomerang properly, they must go to the back of the line before they are allowed to try again.
