I'm Sick of Doing Stuff I Can't Do is the sixth episode of The Amazing Race: Family Edition.
Synopsis[]
In an exciting foot race to the mat, teams are within seconds of each other as they fight exhaustion to claim first prize.
The families leave Panama and head to San Jose, Costa Rica in search of their next clue. One Team is yielded at a roadblock and passes the time by talking trash about their competition. Another family struggles with a seemingly simple task and watches their lead over the others quickly dwindle. Meanwhile, two racers watch in awe as one member of their family out-muscles them.[2]
Story[]
Route Markers[]
The order of departure from the Miraflores Locks are as follows:
- Paolo Family (8:22 pm)
- Weaver Family (9:11 pm)
- Bransen Family (9:16 pm)
- Linz Family (9:17 pm)
- Gaghan Family (9:23 pm)
- Godlewski Family (9:43 pm)
Teams must take one of three charter buses to San José, Costa Rica. The charter buses would leave thirty minutes apart and would carry two teams each. Upon arrival, teams must drive themselves to Poás Volcano National Park and find their clue on the outer rim of Poás Volcano.
The Fast Forward instructions were given to teams after finding their clue at Poás Volcano. To win it, teams must sit down and have a family portrait painted. However, none of the team opted to use the Fast Forward, so the task was left unaired and no additional details were provided.[3]
Teams must drive themselves to the Doka Estate to search for their next clue.
At the Doka Estate, teams would have the option to Yield a team. The Paolo Family used the Yield on the Weaver Family.
"Who can tell the difference between colors?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must choose a pile of coffee beans, weighing a total of 800 lbs. They must search through the entire pile of beans, searching for a single red bean, which they could exchange for their next clue.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
Teams must drive themselves to Jacó and find Roca Loca Surf Shop to receive their next clue from the shopkeeper.
Choice A: Relic
Teams must travel to a nearby rainforest, Manuel Antonio National Park, where they had to cross six rope bridges and search for four Mayan relics. Once they delivered each of these relics to an archaeologist, they would receive their next clue.
The Bransen, Gaghan, Godlewski, Linz, and Weaver Families chose this task.
Choice B: Ripe
Teams must travel to Frutas Selectas del Tropico, a banana plantation, where they must gather 15 bushels of bananas and load them onto hanging tracks. Then, using a local pulling system, they must haul the bananas to the distribution center, where the foreman would give their next clue.
Teams must drive themsevles to Quepos and find Malecon to check in.
For coming in first place, the Paolo Family won individual "wild rides" with a choice of a Segway HT, a Vespa, a jet ski, or an all-terrain vehicle, courtesy of the Wild Bean Cafe at BP.
