Teams must drive themselves to Boulangerie Defontaine in Sainte-Menehould, where teams must buy a baguette, and break it open to find their next clue.
Teams must drive themselves to La Main de Massiges in Massiges and search the grounds to find their next clue.
At La Main de Massiges, Jordan & Jeff would receive their clue for their Speed Bump. Jordan & Jeff must help reinforce a trench wall using a series of branches. Their work must be up to the soldier's satisfaction before they are allowed to continue.
Choice A: In the Trenches
Teams would have to dress up as World War I-era American soldiers, known as Doughboys. Teams must travel through trenches to a telegraph where they have to decipher a message in Morse code - "We will prevail. Vive la France." - and then preset their deciphered message to the French sergeant, who will send their message back headquarters via carrier pigeon, and then hand them their next clue.
None of the teams chose this task.
Choice B: Under Fire
Teams would have to dress up as World War I-era American soldiers, known as Doughboys. Teams must crawl under barbed wire for 100 feet to receive a message – "The war is over. Vive la liberté." – from a soldier in a foxhole. They then have to crawl back through the barbed wire to present the message to the sergeant, who will send their message back headquarters via carrier pigeon, and then hand them their next clue.
Teams must travel on foot south down the road at La Main de Massiges to find their next clue.
At La Main de Massiges, teams would have the option to U-Turn a team, without revealing their identity. Louie & Michael used the U-Turn on Joe & Heidi. Since Joe & Heidi completed the Under Fire Detour, they would be forced to backtrack and complete the In the Trenches Detour before continuing.
Teams must travel on foot to the Church of Massiges to find their next clue.
Teams must wear traditional French bicycling gear and travel four miles on antique bicycles to Eglise Saint-Étienne de Wargemoulin in Wargemoulin-Hurlus to check in. For coming in first place, Louie & Michael won two 55" HD TVs.
