Teams must take a train to Vienna, Austria. Once there, teams must make their way to the intersection of Friedrichstraße and Operngasse, where they must descend into the Historic Sewers of Vienna and follow a marked path to the exit of the sewers at the Johann Strauss II Monument in Stadtpark, where they would find their next clue.
Teams must ride a horse-drawn carriage known as a fiacre to Schönbrunn Palace, where they would find their next clue. Teams must claim a fiacre by grabbing the ticket pass hanging on its carriage door and may claim one as soon as they see the horses approaching Stadtpark. The first group of three fiacres would depart at 8:30 am. The second group of three fiacres would depart at 9:00 am. The third group of four fiacres depart at 9:30 am.
The Fast Forward instructions were given to teams after finding their clue at the Johann Strauss II Monument in Stadtpark. Teams must take a fiacre to the Schönbrunn Palace, where they must don formal attire and each carry a tray of champagne glasses across a ballroom full of waltzing couples. Once they have each successfully crossed the ballroom without spilling any glass, they can claim the Fast Forward pass. Steve & Josh won the Fast Forward.
Choice A: Mozart
Teams must carry a string bass 6 miles to where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote The Marriage of Figaro, which they must figure out was the Figarohaus, a location well-known by locals. Once they have delivered the bass, the Mozart impersonator would give them their next clue.
David & Jeff, Jon & Al, Millie & Chuck, Monica & Sheree, Reichen & Chip, Russell & Cindy, Steve & Dave, and Tian & Jaree chose this task.
Choice B: Beethoven
Teams must carry a portfolio of sheet music 11 miles to where Ludwig van Beethoven wrote The Heiligenstadt Testaments, which they must figure out was the Beethoven House, a location not as well-known to locals. Once they have delivered the sheet music, the Beethoven impersonator would give them their next clue.
Only Kelly & Jon chose this task.
Steve & Dave were not shown performing either side of the Detour. However, Dave privately informed The Amazing Race Wiki that they performed the Mozart task.Teams must make their way to the Donauturm, where they would find their next clue.
"Which of you doesn't mind hanging by their ankles?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must take a 460-foot bungee jump off the Donauturm, the tallest tower-jump in Europe. Once on the ground, they would receive their next clue.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
Teams must take a train to Gmunden and find the Schloss Ort to check in.
