Jody was a sniper for the Canadian forces, and while on duty in Afghanistan in 2007, he stepped on a land mine and lost both his legs below the knee. After an extraordinary recovery, Jody was running 5 km charity runs in a little over a year on his new prosthetic feet. “It’s obviously going to be a challenge,” Jody says of his prosthetics, “but we’re going to have to overcome that with determination.”

Jody "Jo" Mitic and Cory Mitic are a team of Brothers on The Amazing Race Canada 1.

They remained in the background for first half of the season both airtime-wise and gameplay-wise, but stepped into the limelight by winning leg 7, and then the two following legs, and were the favorites heading into the finale as the were the only team remaining to have previously won a leg. After trailing for most of the final leg, they arrived at the Final Roadblock minutes after Vanessa & Celina.
