Knock the Newbie Out of Us is the second episode of The Amazing Race 31.

The order of departure from Atago Jinja are as follows:

Teams must fly to Luang Prabang, Laos. Upon arrival, teams must take a tuk-tuk to Villa Santi, where they would receive their next clue before sunrise the following morning.

Teams must make their way to Wat Sensoukharam, where they must participate in a local morning alms giving ceremony. They must pick up a basket of sticky rice and give a packet to each passing Buddhist monk at the temple. After the ceremony, teams would receive their next clue.

Teams must make their way on foot to Big Tree Café by the Mekong River, where they would find their next clue.

At Big Tree Café teams would have the option to U-Turn a team, with two slots available. Rachel & Elissa used the first slot of the U-Turn on Becca & Floyd. Becca & Floyd used the second slot of the U-Turn on Tyler & Korey.

Since Becca & Floyd completed the BBQ Detour, they would be forced to backtrack and complete the ABC Detour before continuing.

Choice A: ABC
Teams must make their way to Ecole Maternelle Louang Prabang, where they must learn the Laotian alphabet from a teacher. They must then enter a classroom and take an oral exam in front of students. Once they pass the exam, the teacher would give them their next clue.

Corinne & Eliza, Rupert & Laura, and Tyler & Korey chose this task.


Choice B: BBQ
Teams must make their way to BBQ Alley at the Luang Prabang Night Market, where they must purchase three ducks and eight tilapias. They must then find a marked stall and prepare eleven sets of Lao skewers, following an ongoing demonstration in which they must filet and gut the fish and duck, to receive their next clue.

Becca & Floyd, Chris & Bret, Colin & Christie, Janelle & Britney, Leo & Jamal, Nicole & Victor, and Rachel & Elissa chose this task.

Teams must take a tuk-tuk to the Elephant Village Sanctuary and Resort, where they would find their next clue.

"Who likes to be in command?"

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must ride an elephant and use Lao commands to guide it across a section of the Nam Khan river. At the other side of the river, they must search for musicians playing qeejs to receive their next clue, then guide their elephant back to the starting point to reunite with their partner.

Teams must make their way to Wat Xieng Thong and take a boat to Prince Phetsarath's Palace to check in. For coming in first place, Leo & Jamal each won $2,500.
