- This was originally to be The Amazing Race Canada's first international leg, but logistics saw it swapped with Hong Kong.
- Given the historical significance of Normandy, where this leg took place, Jon opened the episode with a dedication to Canada's servicemen and women. The episode included solemn pictures and stories from the D-Day invasion. Producer John Brunton spoke highly about wanting this leg to properly pay tribute.
