Marcus Grönholm and Timo Rautiainen have been quite successful in different parts of the world, Marcus as driver and Timo as co-driver. During their active career, they won two World Rally Championships. Even though Marcus and Timo no longer race together from stage to stage, they keep in close contact. Timo is married to Marcus's sister, their cottages are close to each other and the rally world still attracts them, nowadays to the grandstands.

Marcus and Timo boast that they are in good physical shape, at least for their age, and the will to win has not disappeared despite the end of their sports careers. In Amazing Race, the friends' division of labour is familiar and safe: Timo acts as a co-driver and Marcus goes where he is told.

Fun fact: Marcus and Timo might get nervous in traffic if things aren't smooth enough.
