Monica & Sheree

Monica Ambrose and Sheree Buchanan are a team of NFL Wives/Moms on The Amazing Race 4.

The two moms formed an alliance with Reichen & Chip and oftentimes found themselves racing near the front of the pack. However, they made the fatal mistake of walking in Mumbai instead of taking a bus like all the other teams, putting them on the back foot for the rest of the leg, adding to their difficulties at the Detour, resulting in their elimination in 7th place.

Monica, 29, and a mother of two, was once an Indianapolis Colts cheerleader and holds a BA in Journalism from Indiana University, Indianapolis. She enjoys "tennis, acting and watching movies" and considers herself "outgoing, fun-loving and very competitive." She fears snakes, bugs and rats, and in conversation, "anything gross is off-limits." Monica admits to letting her emotions affect her better judgment. She doesn't like cold climates, understands a little Spanish, and had traveled to Antigua, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.

Sheree, 31, has three kids and describes herself as "outgoing, friendly and patient" and "loves experiencing new cultures and adventures." Whereas her teammate Monica is completely organized, Sheree says she's the complete opposite. She holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Louisville and has had some college experience in television production. Sheree fears "dangerous animals, reptiles and weird-looking men," and anything is game in conversation for her, "unless bodily fluids are being discussed." She speaks "very little French" and has traveled to Paris, Amsterdam, Spain, the Caribbean and Mexico. Sheree blows off steam with a long bubble bath and a "glass of wine…okay, a bottle," and admits that she trusts people way too much and sometimes gets burned. She adds, "I have short-term will power."^[1]

How would you describe your previous travel experience?

Monica: I've traveled a lot over the last eight years. I've been out of the country several times, so I'm used to other cultures and respecting lifestyles different than my own.
Sheree: I've traveled a lot for relaxation and pleasure in the Islands. I traveled to Europe twice, visiting France, Spain and Amsterdam.

What is the most stressful aspect of traveling?

Monica: Packing!
Sheree: Packing! And did I mention packing? Packing!

What is the most important item in your backpack, and why?

Monica: Pictures of my family that cheer me up when I get a little homesick and my "Oh Baby" lip gloss that keeps me feeling "looking good"!
Sheree: My MAC gloss. The last thing I want is lips that look like they've been eating powdered donuts.

Why did you want to be on THE AMAZING RACE?

Monica: Being married to a professional athlete is wonderful, but it's hard being in the supporter role all the time. I want to experience what my husband has experienced the last 11 years and have the roles reversed for a while!
Sheree: To prove that two black mothers and wives can compete in a physical arena that no one expects us to do well in.

Have you and your partner traveled together before? If so, what was it like?

Monica: Almost all of my vacations have been with my partner and her family. We all have a blast and that's why we continue to travel together!
Sheree: Yes. We vacation together all the time. We have a blast!

What do you fear most about competing in THE AMAZING RACE?

Monica: Being eliminated early.
Sheree: Being eliminated in the first round. But that won't happen.

What strengths and weaknesses do you bring to the Team?

Monica: I bring a very competitive, aggressive attitude to the Team. Patience can sometimes by my weakness.
Sheree: I think I bring patience and physical strength to our Team. I think my weakness is making too quick decisions at times.

What strengths and weaknesses does your teammate bring to the Team?

Monica: My teammate has a great way of calming me down and making me laugh.
Sheree: My partner rationalizes more about decisions, which is a great strength.

What will you miss the most from home (besides your bed)?

Monica: Seeing my husband, children, family and friends! I'll also miss being able to play tennis!
Sheree: My husband and my four beautiful babies.

What languages do you speak?

Monica: Some Spanish.
Sheree: Very little French, and Ebonics.

What destination are you hoping to visit?

Monica: Greece and Italy.
Sheree: Italy, Africa and Rio.

What country do you feel best prepared for?

Monica: Mexico.
Sheree: France and Africa.^[2]

Sheree has since divorced Ray Buchanan^[3] and married Andy Jones on May 9, 2015.^[4]
Sheree was one of the cast members of Atlanta Exes.^[5]
On May 31, 2020, Sheree's granddaughter, Harper Rae Davis was born.^[6]
