Part Like the Red Sea is the ninth episode of The Amazing Race 23.


Route Markers

The order of departure from the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Hotel are as follows:

  1. Nicole & Travis (12:38 am)
  2. Jason & Amy (12:52 am)
  3. Tim & Marie (1:15 am)
  4. Leo & Jamal (2:06 am)
  5. Ally & Ashley (2:06 am)

Teams were moved from the Mercure Grand Hotel to the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Hotel prior to departure.

Leo & Jamal opted to depart two minutes after their scheduled departure time to leave with Ally & Ashley.

Teams must fly to Bandung, Indonesia. Upon arrival, teams must travel by taxi to the Cikapandang Village Ram Arena to find their next clue.

Teams must pick up two Priangan rams from a marked Kei truck and then take them to the ram arena to participate in a traditional West Javanese ram fight. Once the rams butted heads, teams have to take them back to the trucks before they can receive their next clue.

Teams must travel by taxi to Rancaekek Station and then travel by train back to Bandung. Teams will find their next clue at the Bandung Station.

Choice A: For the Elephants
Teams would have to travel to the Simpang Dago Market where they have to pick up eight watermelons, two bunches of bananas, a dozen sweet potatoes, and five strokes of sugar cane before heading to the Bandung Zoo. Once there, they'll transport the food on one of the provided hand trolleys to the elephant enclosure where they'll feed the elephants and received their next clue.

Ally & Ashley, Jason & Amy, Leo & Jamal, and Tim & Marie chose this task.

Choice B: For the Birds
Teams would have to picked up two matching Peach-faced Lovebirds from Kios Pak Dedi at Sukahaji Market and then take them to a bird song competition at the Sumber Sari Arena. After entering the birds into the competition, teams will have to get their birds to sing and scored by a judge who will award them their next clue.

Only Nicole & Travis chose this task.

Teams must travel by taxi to Saung Angklung Udjo to find their next clue.

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock would have to properly assemble an angklung, a traditional Indonesian musical instrument made of tubes of bamboo. Once they have assembled the stand correctly and can play a complete octave, one of the students will give them their next clue.

Teams must travel by taxi to Bosscha Observatory to check in.

For coming in first, Leo & Jamal each won $7,500.
