Ready to Lose Our Lives is the ninth episode of The Amazing Race 2.
Synopsis
This leg of the race is filled with adventurous challenges as the teams make their way through the spectacular backdrop of New Zealand
Four teams race from the Australian Outback to the South Island of New Zealand where they confront a high-speed jet boat river ride, an unruly flock of sheep and a 450-foot bungee jump, one of the largest in the world.[2]
Story
Route Markers
The order of departure from the Aboriginal Camp are as follows:
- Chris & Alex (3:35 am)
- Blake & Paige (5:01 am)
- Tara & Wil (5:06 am)
- Oswald & Danny (5:09 am)
Teams must drive back to Coober Pedy, and load their vehicles onto a selected trailer called a road train, and transported them into Glendambo. They then drove to a local airstrip and signed up one of two charter flights to Adelaide. The first two teams leave at 10:30 am, and the last two at 11:15 am. They must then fly to Queenstown, New Zealand.
Teams must go to Wentworth Station in Gibbston Valley and search for a marked car.
The instructions for the Fast Forward were found with their clue in Queenstown. Teams must make their way to the Shotover River, where they will take a boat. On the boat, they must find a flag and grab the clue. Blake & Paige won this Fast Forward.
Teams must take a marked car to Nevis Highwire Platform and instruct their drivers to take them to a gondola on a cliffside. Once across the gondola, they will have to find their next clue.
Choice A: Quick Jump
Teams had to take a tandem bungee jump 450 feet (140 m) down to the clue at the bottom of the canyon, the second-highest bungee-jump in the world at the time.
All of the teams chose this task.
Choice B: Long Hike
Teams had to hike down a long trail to the bottom of the canyon while searching for the clue box.
Teams must make their way to the Inverary Sheep Station in Canterbury Plains to find their next clue.

One team member had to enter a pen full of sheep and separate the three black sheep from 22 white sheep to a second pen at the end of the corral. When they were finished, the team then ran to the Pit Stop nearby.

For coming in first place, Blake & Paige won a vacation to Puerto Rico, provided by American Airlines Vacations.
