Returning Racer seasons allow to former contestants to race once again for the prize money on The Amazing Race.

Phil Keoghan was initially hesitant[1] to go forward with returnee seasons due to the critical failure of Survivor: All-Stars.[2][3]

- Former racers have also returned on the show to make one-off appearances to pass out clues or has been a Pit Stop greeter. Such as Kevin & Drew (hotdog vendors on the "frank" task in The Amazing Race: Family Edition) before their second Race appearance, Melody Chen (Pit Stop greeter in The Amazing Race 25), and Ernie & Cindy (crowd attendants on the final memory task in The Amazing Race 29).[4][5]
- Uchenna & Joyce, Shay & Shani, Trần Thị Thu Hiền, and Hương Giang & Criss are the only Official Winners to return after their winning season.
- Hương Giang & Criss are the only ones that were not eliminated in their second Race.
- John Vito & Jill, Rob & Amber, Amanda & Kris, Jessica & John, Colin & Christie, and Becca & Floyd are the teams changed their relationships between on their original race and second race.
- John Vito & Jill are the first returning team to be eliminated first on a second race. This would be followed by Amanda & Kris, Natalie & Nadiya, and Art & JJ in the original American version.
- Rob & Amber, Teri & Ian, Joe & Bill, Jaime & Cara, Margie & Luke, Ron & Christina, Jet & Cord, and Art & JJ are the former finalists to be eliminated in their second Race.
- Eric Sanchez and Danielle Turner are the first racers to return as a composite team, Eric & Danielle. This would be followed by Mark Jackson forming with Mallory Ervin as Mark & Mallory (see below), and Brendan McDougall and Sam May, forming as Brendan & Sam.
- Mark was supposed to play with his original partner Bopper Minton in their second race, but the latter dropped out due to showing signs of inflaming pancreatitis shortly before the start of the Race.
- Margie & Luke, Flight Time & Big Easy, Jet & Cord, and Leo & Jamal are the only original teams to return twice, thus playing three times.
- David & Mary, Dustin & Kandice, Gary & Mallory, and Leo & Jamal are the only teams to play back-to-back.
- Oswald & Danny, Kent & Vyxsin, Leo & Jamal, Brendon & Rachel, and Becca & Floyd are the only teams to finish their placements twice in their original and second seasons.
- Margie & Luke are the only team to finish the same placement in both returning seasons.
- Natalie & Nadiya, Mallory Ervin, and Art & JJ are the only returning teams to be eliminated without visiting new countries.
- Jet & Cord and Margie & Luke are the only teams visiting China in all three seasons.
- Becca & Floyd are the only team of strangers to return.
- Colin & Christie currently hold the record for the longest period between appearances on The Amazing Race, with 26 seasons.
- They also hold the record for the longest period between their original and most recent appearances.
