Salt That Sand! is the ninth episode of The Amazing Race 28.

Story

Route Markers

The order of departure from Deira Old Souq Station are as follows:

  1. Brodie & Kurt (12:28 am)
  2. Burnie & Ashley (12:30 am)
  3. Tyler & Korey (1:18 am)
  4. Zach & Rachel (1:31 am)
  5. Dana & Matt (1:48 am)
  6. Sheri & Cole (4:11 am)

Teams must fly to Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. Upon arrival, teams must make their way to Tanah Lot temple, where they would find their next clue.

Teams must claim one of three departure times the following morning. The first two teams would depart at 6:15 am, the next two teams would depart at 6:30 am, and the last two teams would depart at 6:45 am.

Teams must deliver two Balinese offerings. They must first deliver a gebogan each to the monks at the Pura Enjung Galuh temple. There, they would exchange their gebogan for a live python each and deliver them to the monks at Tanah Lot temple in exchange for their next clue.

Teams must make their way to Banjar Belatung Kusamba Beach, where they would find their next clue.

At Banjar Belatung Kusamba Beach, Sheri & Cole would receive their clue for their Speed Bump. Sheri & Cole must make their way to the Bat Temple, where they must flag down a man on a marked motorbike selling bakso. They must prepare and sell ten bowls of bakso for Rp10,000 each, then each eat a bowl themselves, before being allowed to continue.

"Who's worth their salt?"

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must collect sea water in two baskets on a shoulder-mounted pile, then pour it on a plot of volcanic sand for the water to evaporate. Once the have filled their plot, they must scrape enough crystallized salt from brine troughs to fill a basket. After scraping the salt, they must then fill up four bags with salt to receive their next clue.

Teams must make their way to Pantai Mertasari, where they would find their next clue.

"Who wants to go fly a kite?"

The team member who sat out of the previous Roadblock must use the provided materials to assemble a 30-foot kite for the Bali Kite Festival with a team of kite enthusiasts. Once the judge has determined that they have properly built their kite, they must fly the kite along the beach to receive their next clue.

The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:

Teams must make their way to Semawang Beach and paddle a marked outrigger canoe to a nearby traditional pinisi boat to check in.
For coming in first place, Tyler & Korey each won $5,000.
