Revision as of 03:03, 26 May 2017

The Amazing Race 29 is the twenty-ninth installment of the reality television show, The Amazing Race.

Development

For the first time since 2003, a new season did not air at all during the Fall (September-December). Initially the season was to start airing on April 21, 2017 with a two-hour season premiere[2] in its regular timeslot of Fridays 8 p.m., but was bumped up to March 30, 2017 due to low ratings for Training Day[3]. As a result, the season also moved to the new timeslot of Thursdays 10 p.m.

Filming began on June 10, 2016[4] and ended July 2, 2016.[5]

Unlike previous seasons, a group of complete strangers will be competing. As such, the teams were determined by first impressions and a school-yard pick after a pre-race challenge.[6]

Notes:
1: Kevin & Jenn initially arrived 10th, but due to receiving their clue automatically at the Detour site, due to safety concerns, were penalized with a two-hour penalty for not completing the Detour. Liz & Michael checked in while they were serving their penalty, dropping them to last place.
2: Becca & Floyd initially checked in 5th, however, Floyd soon discovered he lost his passport, and were told they couldn't check in without it. They were able to find Floyd's passport, and the second time they checked in, they dropped to 8th.
3: Shamir was unable to complete the Roadblock as the other teams had already checked in at the Pit Stop. Phil went to the Roadblock location to inform him and Sara of their elimination.
4: Leg 5 had no mandatory rest period between legs, and all teams were ordered to continue racing. The team who checked in last on this leg did not face a Speed Bump in the next leg.
5: Becca & Floyd knowingly U-Turned Liz & Michael, who had already passed the U-Turn point and were therefore unaffected by it.
6: Becca & Floyd received a 10 minute penalty for speeding. They served it on the racecourse, thus didn't affect their placement, and was left unaired.[16]
7: On the way to Đền Thái Vi, Floyd became dizzy due to fatigue from the Roadblock, and medics were called out to their location. Long after all the other teams checked in, Phil came out to his & Becca's location and eliminated them.
