The Amazing Race 32 is the thirty-second installment of the reality television show, The Amazing Race.
Production[]
Filming of this season began on November 10, 2018, and concluded on December 3, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana between a travel of 33,000 miles (53,000 kilometers) within 4 continents and 11 countries, but did not air until almost two years later. It was originally scheduled to premiere on May 20, 2020, with a two-hour season premiere as a part of the 2019-20 television season, taking over Survivor: Winners at War timeslot.[2] However, the premiere date was pushed back further in the year for the 2020-21 television season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the freshman game show Game On! would be taking the show's former scheduled slot.[3] Due to the broadcast delays for the 2020-21 TV season, it was now part of the fall lineup after Survivor's planned Wednesday timeslot, that 41st season was unable to air on time due to filming complications within the pandemic.[4]
Host Phil Keoghan explained that, following themed casting in recent seasons, this season would go "back to basics", featuring elements that have contributed to the show's longevity.[5]
This season marked the return of the Yield after being absent for 21 seasons in the American version.[6] It also marked the first time in the US version to have a team to be eliminated in the No-Rest Leg.[7]
Two new twists were introduced this season: the "Megaleg" and "City Sprint". The eighth leg featured the Megaleg – a rebranding of the old Superleg last seen on The Amazing Race 14 – which featured two Detours and two Roadblocks over the course of one leg.[8]
