The Amazing Race 37 is the thirty-seventh season of the reality television show, The Amazing Race. It premiered on March 5, 2025 and scheduled to end on May 15, 2025 on CBS.
Production[]
Applications were due on September 29, 2023. Casting for the season was originally to begin in October 9, 2023, but was postponed to December 4, 2023.[5] Casting closed on March 6, 2024.
On May 2, 2024, the show was renewed for a thirty-seventh season with CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach teasing a potential new twist for the show[6] which production billed as a "season of surprises".
Later, it was announced that the show will continue to air 90-minute episodes in spring 2025 alongside Survivor 48.[7] On November 13, 2024, it was announced the season would air on March 5, 2025.[8]
Filming for this season began on May 18, 2024, and ended on June 14, 2024, coincided with the June 2024 South Florida floods occurred a couple of days earlier.[9]
Twists/Changes[]
- Expanded Cast: For the first time, the Race featured 14 teams.
- Season of Surprises: Each leg will have game-changing twists.
- Fork in the Road and Double Elimination: In the first leg, teams were given one of two separate race paths, with the last team from each path to arrive at the Pit Stop being eliminated.
- Intersection: In the second leg, the remaining twelve teams were required to divide themselves into six groups of two, performing all tasks and making decisions together until further notice.
- Express Pass: In the third leg, the first team whose non-participating member also managed to complete that leg's Roadblock would be awarded the Express Pass, which allows them to skip any task of their choosing until the end of the sixth leg. The Express Pass was then given to the first team to complete an optional task in the eighth leg, which allows them to skip any task of their choosing until the end of the tenth leg.
- Driver's Seat: In the fourth leg, the first team to arrive at a designated board determined how much work the remaining teams had to do for that leg's Roadblock.
- Double U-Turn: Double U-Turns are available on certain legs of the Race.
- Double U-Turn Vote: In the fifth leg, teams were gathered at a designated Route Marker and voted privately, with teams later required to publicly reveal their vote. Because votes were locked-in before the public reveal, teams who revealed their vote later were not allowed to change their vote based on the ongoing vote tally, unlike its previous appearance in The Amazing Race 31. The two teams with the most votes were U-Turned.
- In the seventh leg, teams have the option to U-turn other teams, forcing them to do the other detour. Melinda & Erika choose to U-turn Nick and Mike, and Nick and Mike choose to U-turn Han & Holden.
- Non-Elimination Leg: The ninth leg featured the first traditional Non-Elimination Leg in the series since The Amazing Race 33. Non-Elimination Legs had previously been retired beginning with The Amazing Race 34.
- Head-to-Head: The tenth leg featured a Head-to-Head during the Roadblock of this leg. Teams would face off against another team in the order they arrived at the Roadblock, the chosen team member must have to compete in the task. The winning team would be allowed to continue racing, while the losing team must compete against the next team in line. Unlike the previous two appearances in The Amazing Race 30 and The Amazing Race 31, the team that loses the last Head-to-Head would be received a 10-minute penalty.
- Valet Roulette: The eleventh leg featured a Valet Roulette, which randomly determine whether teams get an automatic or manual car keys from the valet board.
