The Amazing Race 4 is the fourth season of the reality television show, The Amazing Race. It premiered on May 23, 2003 and ended on August 21, 2003 on CBS. The entire season was released on DVD (exclusively only through Amazon.com) on November 29, 2011.[1]

Development[]

Applications for this season were due on July 26, 2002, while casting interviews were conducted on late August 2002.[2][3] CBS officially committed to the season in mid-November 2002.[4]

Despite filming in roughly the same weather schedule as The Amazing Race 2 (January–February), this season aired in the summer instead of winter/spring. The show also moved to Thursdays at 8 p.m., replacing Survivor for the summer.[5][6]

This season traveled a total of 44,000 miles (71,000 km) across 9 countries in four continents.

American Airlines and Royal Caribbean International were the two official sponsors during this season and provided prizes throughout the race to winning teams on certain legs.
