The Amazing Race Canada 5 is the fifth installment of the reality television show, The Amazing Race Canada. It was announced on May 4, 2017 by Bell Media.[1]

Production[]

There were plans for a leg in Kenya for this season, however the leg was scrapped due to risks on the way to safari locations. If the plans had went ahead, it would be the first fully-featured visit in The Amazing Race franchise in the country after having had a minor appearance in The Amazing Race 5.[2]

This season featured the addition of interactive online content, including live viewer polls during episode airings, and 360-degree video of the locations visited through the season.

Due to 2017 being the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, some legs featured a task that was specially introduced as a 150 Challenge, involving themes distinctive to Canada. While they had no actual effect on gameplay, they were a factor in the final leg's memory challenge.
