The World Is Waiting: Go! is the Season Premiere of The Amazing Race 2.
Synopsis
In the premiere episode, 11 diverse teams of two set off on the first leg of the Race starting in the remote Nevada desert and quickly making their way to the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Tensions escalate almost immediately between two teams as the pressures of being in the lead pack takes its toll. At the conclusion of the episode, the last team to arrive at the final destination is eliminated.[2]
Story

The race begins at Pahrump, Nevada, United States.
Teams drive themselves to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas and fly to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and find the Christ the Redeemer statue. There are only two flights for the teams. Flight 1 is American Airlines and can only accommodate 7 teams. Flight 2 leaves 2 hours and 15 minutes after Flight 1.
From Rio de Janeiro, teams must take a ferry to Paquetá Island and and find a big tree known as "Fat Maria" and follow the local custom of kissing the tree for good luck to receive the next clue.
After kissing "Fat Maria", teams must find the Lido Hotel and had to sign up for one of four boats returning to the mainland the next morning. Teams had to take the gondola back to the ground and proceed to Ipanema beach to find the woman who inspired the song "The Girl from Ipanema" (Heloísa Pinheiro) with only a photo and a specific lifeguard station for reference. Once the woman was found, she would give them their next clue.
Teams must find the Tocorimé Yacht near Urca beach. Teams must take a boat to the yacht to check in. For coming in first place, Tara & Wil won a vacation to Hawaii, provided by American Airlines Vacations.

- This is the first episode to be named after a quote. It was named after Phil's speech to the other racers.
- This premiere aired on a special night, Monday at 10 pm, before moving to its regular timeslot of Wednesdays at 9 pm.
- Phil's description of Deidre & Hillary was nearly identical to Nancy & Emily.
- This leg marks the first time The Amazing Race have visited the continental South America and the country of Brazil.
