The order of departure from Café Thu Thiem are as follows:

  1. Teri & Ian (5:19 am)
  2. Flo & Zach (5:58 am)
  3. Ken & Gerard (6:13 am)

Teams must take a train to Huế. Upon arrival, they must find the Hiển Lâm Các Pavilion in the Imperial City to find their next clue.

Teams must make their way to Nam O, Da Nang and find the bridge to search for their next clue.

Choice A: Basket Boats
Teams must cross a stretch of river in a round basket boat using only a single paddle each to reach the clue box on a nearby island.

Only Flo & Zach chose this task.


Choice B: Basket Bikes
Teams must each take a bicycle laden with dozens of shrimp baskets and ride them 1 mile (1.6 km) to receive the next clue.

Ken & Gerard and Teri & Ian chose this task.

Teams must travel to Hội An and use one of the marked sampans to paddle to the middle of the Thu Bồn River to get their net clue.

"That person that should be fishing for a clue."

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must climb onto a Vietnamese fishing platform and use a wooden winch to raise a fishing net out of the water to retrieve the clue dangling underneath.

Teams must return their sampan and make their way to China Beach to check in.
For coming in first place, Teri & Ian won a seven-night Alaskan cruise vacation on Royal Caribbean's Radiance of the Seas cruise ship.

Leg 13[]

The order of departure from China Beach are as follows:

  1. Teri & Ian (5:35 am)
  2. Ken & Gerard (5:52 am)
  3. Flo & Zach (8:02 am)

Teams must make their way to Da Nang, and find the Quang Minh Temple. At the Buddha's feet is their next clue.

Teams must make their way to Hanoi and fly to Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. Upon arrival, they must find the kahuna at Puaena Point in Haleiwa and receive a blessing before obtaining their next clue.

Teams must fly to Lihue, on the island of Kauai. Upon arrival, they must drive to a marked ranch gate and follow the arrows to Wailua Falls to their find next clue.

Choice A: Quick Drop
Teams must drop 160 feet (49 m) from the top of a waterfall on a zipline into a pool below. After detaching, they must swim to shore and get their next clue.

All of the teams chose this task.


Choice B: Slow Walk
Teams must walk down the marked path to the base of the waterfall to receive their next clue.

None of the teams chose this task.

Teams must return to their cars and drive to the airport to fly to Seattle, Washington. Upon arrival, they must make their way to Kerry Park to find their next clue.

Teams must make their way on foot to Seattle Center to find their next clue at the International Fountain.

Teams must make their way to Lincoln Park to find their next clue.

"That person that should have a good memory."

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must choose a totem pole and correctly spin the animal faces so that they were aligned in chronological order based on the countries teams visited on the race. The correct order is donkey, dolphin, horse, goat, and manatee. Once they are in the correct order, the mouth of the totem pole will open to reveal their next clue.

Teams must make their way to Gas Works Park and follow the flag to the Finish Line.

Trivia[]

  • The title of this episode was said by Ian Pollack while he noticed Ken & Gerard returning to the other teams at the ticket counter after sneaking to the executive office of the airport in Hanoi.
  • This is the first Race to have the penultimate leg taking place in a foreign country.
  • The final tasks in Seattle were filmed on September 8, 2002.[2]
  • Leg 12's Basket Bikes Detour would return as a Roadblock on Leg 10 of The Amazing Race 29.
  • On the All-Stars premiere, Ian claimed that he and Teri finished less than two minutes behind Flo & Zach at the Finish Line.
  • This is the last episode of the US version in a 9pm timeslot until "All's Fair in Love and War" in The Amazing Race 30.
  • This is the first season to where the final Roadblock featured a memory task over the entire race.
