Teams must make their way to the Rescue Helicopter Port at Air Zermatt. Once there, teams must sign up for a series of helicopter flights to their next location, the Matterhorn Glacier, each leaving at 5 minute intervals. Before they leave on their flight, they will receive their next clue.
Choice A: Search
Teams must use a set of avalanche beacons to search the Matterhorn for a dummy buried in the snow. They must then dig out the whole dummy to receive their next clue.
Gary & Mallory and Zev & Justin chose this task.
Choice B: Rescue
Teams must use a special hoisting device to rescue a mountaineer trapped in a crevasse. One team member must lower their teammate into the crevasse so that they can attach a carabiner to the mountaineer. The team member at the top must then raise their teammate back to the surface, then work together to raise the mountaineer. Once at the top, the rescued mountaineer would give them their next clue.
Teams must ride their helicopter to Riffelalp Resort, then take a train back to Zermatt. Once there, teams must search for Le Petit Cervin, where they would find their next clue.
"Who wants to make a new friend?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must make a Travelocity roaming gnome out of Swiss chocolate. First, they must decorate a chocolate mold with colored chocolate. Once the mold was properly decorated, the mold would be filled with chocolate and then must then bury it in the snow outside for 30 minutes in order to harden the chocolate. They must then remove the gnome from the mold and cover up imperfections with more colored chocolate. Once the head chocolatier approves the gnome, teams will receive a real Roaming Gnome and their next clue. Teams must then carry the gnome for the remainder of the leg.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
Teams must make their way on foot to the Swiss Cabin at Chalet Gädi to check in.
For coming in first place, Flight Time & Big Easy won a trip for two to the Cook Islands, provided by Travelocity.
