During the Pit Stop, teams were transported on the Indian Pacific from Junction Mine in Broken Hill to Central railway station in Sydney before the start of the leg.

Teams must fly to Tokyo, Japan. Upon arrival, teams must find a marked rotating parking garage in Shibuya, where they would find their next clue.

Teams must ask the rotating parking garage attendant for a marked car, then drive themselves to Kamakura and search for the Tsurugaoka Hachimangū. Once there, they must find the shrine's Yabusame Dojo, where they would find their next clue.

"Who wants to go back a thousand years in time?"

The team member assigned to perform the Roadblock must dress in the traditional clothes of a samurai archer and learn a Yabusame ritual through observation, consisting of a meditative form ritual before a traditional posing with the yumi bow. Once they perform the first two aspects of the ritual to the dojo master's satisfaction, they must then mount a rotating wooden horse and hit a wooden target with an arrow to receive their next clue.

Teams must drive themselves to Minamiashigara and search for the Kintarō Statue outside Daiyūzan Station, where they would find their next clue.

Choice A: Prayer of Purity
Teams must put on keikogi and travel to the woods near Yuhi Falls, where they would take part in a Shinto cleansing ritual. First, they must learn a prayer that consists of a chant, lighting incense, and then shouting while thrusting a walking stick out in front of them. Once they have completed the prayers, they must stand under the Yuhi Falls and endure being drenched in 45 °F water cascading down onto them for one minute to receive their next clue.

Flight Time & Big Easy and Ron & Christina chose this task.

Choice B: Frog of Luck
Teams must strip down to their undergarments and put on fundoshi over them before walking out to a mud pit and searching for a toy frog in the mud while having mud thrown at them by locals. Once they find a frog, they may trade it with the nearby frog master for their next clue.

Gary & Mallory, Jaime & Cara, Jet & Cord, Kent & Vyxsin, Kisha & Jen, Margie & Luke, Mel & Mike, and Zev & Justin chose this task.

Mel & Mike were unable to complete the Frog of Luck Detour due to suffering from hypothermia. Already in last place, they were instructed to go directly to the Pit Stop.

Teams must drive themselves to Yokosuka and find the Commodore Perry Monument to check in.
For coming in first place, Zev & Justin won a trip for two to the Hotel Punta Islita in Costa Rica, provided by Travelocity.
