You Need to Watch Your Jokes, Guy is the fifth episode of The Amazing Race: All-Stars.
Synopsis[]
Racers depart Argentina and head to Mozambique where one team's taunting of another team quickly escalates into a war of words.
During a Roadblock, teams must get up close and personal with a rat in order to receive their next clue.[2]
Story[]
Route Markers[]
The order of departure from Mástil de ARA General Belgrano are as follows:
- Oswald & Danny (12:02 am)
- Eric & Danielle (12:06 am)
- Teri & Ian (1:04 am)
- Joe & Bill (1:55 am)
- Dustin & Kandice (1:58 am)
- Uchenna & Joyce (2:38 am)
- Charla & Mirna (2:41 am)
Teams must take a taxi to the base of the Martial Mountains, ride a chair lift, pick up equipment, and hike a mile to Martial Glacier. Once there, they must use an avalanche beacon to search the glacier for another beacon buried in the snow with their next clue.
Teams must fly to Maputo, Mozambique. Due to the limited number of flights out of Ushuaia, teams have been given tickets to Maputo. However, they are not obligated to use them and may look for another itinerary. Upon arrival, they must choose a marked car and driver and direct him to APOPO Training Field, where they would find their next clue.
"Who smells a rat?"
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must would dress up in protective gear and choose a trained Gambian pouched rat that is used to find buried land mines. They must guide the rat to find a buried race marker above a deactivated mine; once their rat gave the signal that it found something, an APOPO Mine Technician would search the area. When the Race marker was found, the team would receive their next clue.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
Teams must take their cars and direct their driver back to Maputo and find Praça dos Trabalhadores, where they would find their next clue.
Choice A: Pamper
Teams must make their way half a mile to the Maputo central market, choose a nail polish kit, and convince people to pay them to paint their nails, which in Maputo is a job usually performed by men. Teams must earn at least 30MT, equivalent to around $1, to receive their next clue.
Charla & Mirna, Dustin & Kandice, and Teri & Ian chose this task.
Choice B: Porter
Teams must make their way two miles to Mercado Janet, where they would use their bare hands to fill 10 large, 45-pound bags with coal and sew each of them shut. They must then carry one of the bags to a specified address, where the owner would hand them their next clue.
Teams must take their cars and direct their driver to Fortaleza de Maputo to check in.
For coming in first, Charla & Mirna won a trip to Aruba provided by Travelocity.
For coming in last place, Uchenna & Joyce are "marked for elimination". If they do not arrive first in the next leg, they would be assessed a 30-minute penalty.Leaderboard[]
