Your Tan Is Totally Cool is the fifth episode of The Amazing Race 22.

Teams must fly to Hanoi, Vietnam. Upon arrival, teams must make their way to Rạp Công Nhân Theater Gallery 42, where they would find their next clue.

"Who's ready to take in the sights and sounds of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam?"

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock must watch a performance of a Vietnamese patriotic song. At the end of the performance, the phrase "Vinh quang thay thế hệ thanh niên chúng ta", which in Vietnamese means "Glory to our young generation", would be displayed. Without taking any notes, they would have five minutes to search the nearby gallery for one of several political posters with the correct phrase hidden among many with misleading phrases. If they cannot find the correct quote within the allotted time, they would have to watch the performance again.

Dave & Connor did not perform the Roadblock due to their withdrawal from the Race shortly after the leg began.

Teams must make their way to the Công viên Thống Nhất, where they must perform the múa sạp, a Vietnamese bamboo dance, to receive their next clue.

Choice A: Make Your Move
Teams must make their way to the Temple of Literature, where they must set up a human chess board. Using a local cờ tướng board, teams must find four human chess pieces that have symbols matching the pieces on the board and then set them up with four staffs in position on the human chess board. Once they have the correct pieces on the board, the chessmaster would give them their next clue.

Bates & Anthony, Caroline & Jennifer, Joey & Meghan, Mona & Beth, and Pam & Winnie chose this task.

Choice B: Make Your Meal
Teams must prepare Vietnam's national dish, phở. After picking up four baskets, two empty and two with live chickens, at Ngọc Sơn Temple, they must head to the nearby street market to purchase the rest of the ingredients on a provided shopping list, including the specific weights and amounts. After acquiring the ingredients, they must find a cooking station and each cook a bowl of phở to the chef's approval to receive their next clue.

Chuck & Wynona and Max & Katie chose this task.

Dave & Connor did not perform either side of the Detour due to their withdrawal from the Race shortly after the leg began.

Teams must make their way to the downed B-52 at Hữu Tiệp Lake, where they would find their next clue.

At Hữu Tiệp Lake, teams would have the option to U-Turn a team, with two slots available and anonymously. Pam & Winnie used the first slot of the U-Turn on Joey & Meghan. Joey & Meghan used the second slot of the U-Turn on Chuck & Wynona.

Since Joey & Meghan completed the Make Your Move Detour, they would be forced to backtrack and complete the Make Your Meal Detour before continuing.

Teams must make their way to the National Museum of Vietnamese History to check in.
For coming in first place, Pam & Winnie won a ski trip for two to Whistler, Canada, provided by Travelocity.

Notes

• This episode attracted much controversy due to the Roadblock involving a communist propaganda song and a visit to the downed B-52 Bomber at Hữu Tiệp Lake that was shot down by North Vietnam during the Vietnam War and used as a memorial for communist Vietnam's victory.
  • This led to CBS making an apology, read by host Phil Keoghan, at the beginning of the next episode, stating that the task was insensitive to American veterans, particularly ones of the Vietnam War.
